Hi Creative Friends,
I am sharing a new card design featuring the beautiful stamp and die set, Enchantingly by Penny Black. Since Penny Black is the queen of florals, it is no surprise that this set has both a gorgeous single flower and a stunning floral bouquet.
I began by stamping the single flower onto hot-pressed watercolor paper. I used my stamp positioner and Tea Dye distress ink to stamp the image. I left the paper and stamp in my stamp positioner the entire time I painted the flower so I could restamp whenever I needed to crisp the lines.
I used a few distress inks for the flower and bud. I started with Candied Apple, then added more depth by adding Lumberjack Plaid. For a deeper shade, Aged Mahogany and Villainous Potion. To color the stamens black, I used a black Tombow pen to get into the small space.
The leaves were also painted with distress inks. I used Crushed Olive first, then Peeled Paint, Evergreen Bough, and Rustic Wilderness. Again I used a Tombow brush pen to get into the smaller or thinner spaces. I used a green pen to color to restamp the edges of the stem and leaves.
Once the painting was done and very dry, I cut out the flower using the matching die and set it aside while I worked on the other parts of the card.
Next, I made an A2-sized white card stock card base and a matching panel from Antique Grey. The grey panel was adhered to the front of the card base. Then, with a 3 3/8″x4 3/8″ white panel, I cut a decorative panel from the center using the Geometric Circles die by Penny Black.
Hint: If you center the Geometric Circles die perfectly onto the white panel, it creates an outside frame and a decorative center. I used both.
I also cut another panel the same size and blended on Lumberjack Plaid and a little Candied Apple. It was then mounted to the back of the frame and geometric circle panel. The whole assembly was added to the front of the card.
The flower was next. Using foam squares the flower was mounted.
For the sentiment, I went for the simplicity of the word ‘Love’ using the Love die by Penny Black. ♥
