Brilliant Blooms, Two Ways and Two Color Schemes

Brilliant Blooms, Two Ways and Two Color Schemes

Hi Everyone,

I started writing this post and found the explanation was getting too wordy, so… the next best thing I could think of was to create a video to explain all the ins and outs. You can view it below or on our YouTube channel.

The two card designs were made using the Brilliant Blooms stamp and die set by My Favorite Things. I have used this set before (click here to check it out) and was impressed by the versatility and beauty of the simple blossoms so decided to give it another look.

In these cards, I created a background by stamping and embossing the flowers, cut out the center and add a gracious sentiment from the Paper Artsy Eclectica3 stamp set. The left-over cut-out center was then used to create the second card.

Take a look at the video of the two different card design styles and colors.

As you can see in the video, I demonstrated making the designs using the yellow and blue color scheme. The background was created by stamping the images with Versamark ink and heat embossing them with Ranger gold embossing powder. I added ‘intentional splatters” by stamping clusters of dots using a stamp from the Concord & 9th Brushed Blossoms stamp set.  The background and flowers were then colored with Antique Linen, Ripe Persimmon, Tumbled Glass and Evergreen Bough distress inks.

The centers of the flowers were colored with a few yellow, orange and brown Copic markers. They were Y18, Yr16, E23, and E77.

The second set of designs were made exactly the same way, only the colors and embossing powder changed. For the pink and gray version, the embossing powder is Ranger Rose Gold and the flowers and backgrounds are colored with Worn Lipstick, Abandoned Coral, and Pumice Stone distress inks.

To create the gray background, I lightly added Pumice stone distress ink, then intensified some areas by using Iced Spruce distress ink.

You will have to let me know which color scheme you enjoy most. For me, it is the pink and gray… hands down.

Thanks for joining me today. I hope you enjoyed it and will be inspired to subscribe to our YouTube channel.

See you next time!
