Hello my crafty friends,
Welcome to another edition of The Foiled Fox blog. Today I am featuring a fun card using the Altenew Simple Fruits stamp set. In this set, there are so many fruits and a wonderful, cheery “So Sweet” sentiment.
I started with stamping lots of my favorite fruits onto white cardstock. I used the handy Sorbet Scoops and Gum Drop Dew Drops ink pad sets for a variety of colors. I really like their small size. It makes it easy to get into small areas or highlight a color by adding a second color over top, plus they have so many bright, luscious colors. But, with that said, you can use any of your favorite inks you have on hand.
After the ink was dry, I fussy cut all the fruit and slathered on clear IrRESISTible Pico Embellisher over top each one to brighten the color even more and give a shiny appearance. If you haven’t used the IrRESISTible Pico Embellishers before, they are worth trying. They are similar to using Glossy Accents but it is not as thick and it is super easy to apply.
Next, using the largest Neat & Tangled Scallop die, I cut the edge of one side of a piece of Licorice Twist cardstock to create a scalloped edge and then added some white dots with my gel pen for interest. The ‘You are So Sweet” sentiment was stamped with Versamark ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder.
I started to assemble the card, starting with a white card base, then adding a scrap piece of white with a black lattice pattern to the top of the card base, making it slightly narrower than the base. Cutting the black scalloped paper (with the sentiment) the same width as the lattice, I added it to the bottom of the lattice paper and started to arrange the fruit… but it seems like something was missing. That’s when I cut a 1/2″ strip of Candy Hearts cardstock, embossed the cross-stitched line (Lawn Fawn Stitched Borders) and sandwiched it between the lattice and black paper. This gave the fruit a good resting place.
The fruit was arranged and stuck in place, some with foam tape and some not. Black and white baker’s twine was added as the final touch.
I hope you enjoyed this project… see you again soon!
