Warm Wishes with Woodsy Friends

Warm Wishes with Woodsy Friends

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a friendly bunch of woodsy critters that are extending their very warm wishes for the Holidays.

This card design was made using the My Favorite Things Sweater Weather In The Woods stamp and die set. The design features urban-going critters out on the town enjoying their favorite cup of ‘Joe’. But truth be told, I think they are really having a luscious latte!

This card is all about the colorful critters so most of the time was spent coloring of these adorable friends. But before I get into the coloring, I want to set the stage by creating a background or backdrop for this woodland critters,

It all starts with a white card base and a white Bristol paper front panel to match the size of the front of the card base. Ink was blended onto the top of the panel to create the sky. I used Tumbled Glass distress oxide ink over the entire sky portion. This primed the paper to make blending Salty Ocean distress oxide ink at the horizon and Broken China in the middle, leaving the Tumbled Glass at the top a much easier task.

I then added falling snow by placing the Alexandra Renke Falling Snow stencil over top the sky and spreading Ranger Opaque texture paste over the top.

With the background sky done, I cut a wide strip of trees and a wide row of houses out of Neenah 110lb. white card stock. The dies I used were Penny Black’s Tree Border and My Favorite Things Our Town die-namics.

The houses and tree were then layered and adhered to the front panel… and that takes care of the whole background. See how easy that was!

Now on to the critters – all the critters were stamped onto Neenah 110lb. white card stock using MFT’s Extreme Hybrid black ink (alcohol marker friendly ink) and colored with Copic alcohol markers. Here is a guide to the colors I used:

Once all the critters (and their respective coffee cups) were stamped and colored, they were cut out using the matching dies, foam tape was added to the back and then positioned onto the card front.

The last thing to do was of course the sentiment. Warm wishes from Ink To Paper’s Be Merry stamp set was stamped with Papertrey Ink Hawaiian Shores ink.

And there we have it – all done. I just love the cheery nature of this holiday card. I hope it will cheer someone else up real soon! ⛄
