Blossom Silhouette by Heather Telford

Blossom Silhouette by Heather Telford

Hi Everyone,

We are back again with an absolutely stunning card by Heather Telford of the Heather Telford blog. There is never enough superlatives to describe Heather’s amazing talent and her projects. We just love the luscious lavender and violet colors created with alcohol inks, with added black silhouette stamping. She is amazing!

Be sure you pop over to Heather’s blog to learn about her giveaway.  She has a special chance for you to win!

Blossom Silhouette card by Heather Telford, using the Penny Black Moment in Time stamp.

I’m excited to be sharing a project on the Foiled Fox blog again, this time not a watercolor project. I have found alcohol inks to be great fun to play with so I pulled them out to make a soft background for the pretty, new blossom stamp from Penny Black. The Spring Blossom stamp is a ‘brushstroke’ stamp, perfect for watercolor techniques, but as you can see on today’s card a nice option for silhouette stamping as well.

I used a non-permeable craft mat and alcohol inks to create a soft blurry background pattern with alcohol inks. To do this I dotted some stonewashed, cranberry and eggplant inks on the mat and added some blending solution.  Next, I took a piece of white Yupo paper and swiped it through the ink to pick up the colours. The inks move very freely over the Yupo paper so I tilted it to help the ink fill the whole panel. Once the initial layer of ink dried I picked up some of the excess from the craft mat with a felt pad and applied that to the panel creating some bubbly patterns. Once the panel was thoroughly dry, it doesn’t take long, I used the MISTI to stamp the spring blossom in jet black archival ink on the colored panel. Stamping on Yupo can be tricky; the stamp clings to the Yupo which makes if difficult to restamp if you need to. I pressed fairly lightly in the MISTI but used quite a few magnets to keep my panel in place and was able to stamp again to get a darker impression – taping the panel down would probably work well.

To finish off the card I matted it in black and added a sentiment from ‘Happy Snippets’ stamped on the small banner from the gift card pocket die set. I embossed with white pearl embossing powder which doesn’t show up too well in the photo but in real life looks a bit like pewter. I attached the little banner with some silver thread.

Thank you for joining me here today and thanks again to the Foiled Fox team for having me.
