Hi Everyone,
It is sooo nice to be hosting the blog today. And what fun it is to share a card filled with scary Halloween things!
This card is showcasing the My Favorite Things Fab-BOO-lous Friends stamp and die set. This stamp set is chocked full of fun monsters, ghosts, bats and the like to help make your Halloween scene super ghoulish!
The fun starts with blending Black Soot and Faded Jeans distress inks onto a square piece of Bristol paper. I used a very light touch at the bottom and as I worked myself up the paper, I added more and more intense color so the sky was very dark at the top. Next, I stamped the sentiment and stenciled the stars using the Heidi Swapp Confetti stencil, Nuvo Moonstone glitter paste and palette knife.
Hint: Be sure to clean the glitter paste off the stencil the minute you are finished – otherwise you and your stencil are doomed!
Next, I die cut a hill using the Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside die set and a piece of Bristol paper. The hill was then colored with a blending tool and Antique Linen, Peeled Paint and Vintage Photo distress inks. This color combination created a dark, nighttime-looking hillside.
A fence was then die cut from Black Licorice Twist heavy cardstock and Lawn Fawn Little Picket Fence lawn cuts, then randomly and very lightly sponged with white Picket Fence distress ink.
Each of the monsters and other Halloween ‘characters’ were stamped onto white cardstock with Memento ink (Copic friendly) and colored with the fabulous alcohol-based Copic markers. Here is a quick reference of the Copic Markers used.
Don’t forget to use your die set to cut out all these little darlings!
Ready to start layering and assembling? It starts with a dark blue square card base. A black square cardstock panel slightly smaller than the base was randomly smudged with white ink on the edges and adhered to the top. The ‘sky’ panel was placed on top of that, along with the hillside and fence. The adorable Halloween characters were arranged between the hillside and fence then glued or popped up with foam tape.
There we are… all done. I had a blast making it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! See you soon — Ruri
