A Little Hello to You

A Little Hello to You

Hello,

Today’s project is a little kitty saying hello through the window. It is created using the Wonderful Window die by Lawn Fawn. I love kitties (dogs too, for that matter). I know our cats sit by the window waiting for us to return home (or more likely dream of catching the bird in the tree outside).

A Little Hello card

This card begins with the background. Starting with a piece of Neenah Solar White 100lb. card stock and using the Neat & Tangled Pentagon stencil, I added little sections of three distress inks: Pumice Stone, Worn Lipstick and Frayed Burlap with a blending tool.  I was careful to have a light touch. I wanted only a suggestion of a stone wall,  not overbearing or to cover the whole piece of paper.

When the ‘wall’ was the way I wanted it, I heat set it with my heat tool and cut out the largest stitched rectangle in the set of the Lawn Fawn’s Large Stitched Rectangle Stackables.

Next up was the window. Using the same heavy white card stock, I cut out the window and window box and the flowers were cut from watercolor paper. The cut-out flowers were saturated with clear, clean water and then watercolored. They were set aside to dry.

With a piece of Bristol paper, I added color with my distress inks and a blending tool.  You can use regular card stock to blend the colors but the distress inks go on the bristol paper like soft butter and blend magnificently!  To color the window background, I started at the bottom with Squeezed Lemonade, added Wild Honey, then graduated up the paper with Tumbled Glass and ended with Salty Ocean distress ink.

If you are using bristol paper, the only caution I would add is that it smudges easily before it dries completely so leave an edge to hang onto. For this reason, I waited until the paper was colored and dry before I cut it the shape of the window.

Before, I forget, the little kitty, from the Lawn Fawn Bicycle Built for You set, was stamped onto watercolor paper and watercolored. After dry, she was cut out. I fussy cut her out but there are matching dies to this set.

On to assembly, the window was mounted onto the window background using foam tape, and the window box and flowers were also added with foam tape.

The background was mounted to a white card base, then the window was added on top. The cat was added with a spot of foam tape.

A strip of patterned paper and then a strip of Sugar Wafer cardstock with the sentiment white heat embossed onto it was added to the bottom of the window.

For the final touch, a few drops of Nuvo Rhubard Crumble crystal drops were added for accent.

I hope you enjoyed this project. See you again very soon.
