Floral Thoughts

Hi Crafty Friends,

It is the beginning of June and flowers are blooming everywhere… included on today’s project! The sweet flowers in the Stargazers die set by Lisa Horton and Spellbinders are the stars of the day and the embossed background sets them off!

As always, I started with the flowers. There is nothing that jump starts my creative juices than sweet flowers. So, using a piece of Bristol paper, I cut out all the flowers and leaves, then ink blended on the color. Of course you can use colored paper and skip the ink blending but I am partial to coloring my own flowers.

I used Concord & 9th’s Berry Kiss and Pink Lemonade inks, and a dash of Buttercup for the centers. The leaves were colored with Eucalyptus and Basil inks. A small ink dauber is perfect for adding the color.

When finished the flowers and leaves were assembled and set aside.

The background was made by cutting an A2-sized card base and panel from Blush pink cardstock (see supply list below). Another panel 3.75″x5″ was cut and embossed using the brand new embossing folder, Abstract Lillium by Penny Black.

The embossed panel was popped up with foam and mounted to the card front panel. Next, I used a pair of deckled scissors to trim a strip of gray polka dot paper, then wrapped it around the panels. A white cardstock decorative panel was cut using the Gentle Swell die set by Penny Black and was mounted to the top.

The flowers were arranged and a sentiment from the Papertrey Ink Effortless Beauties was stamped and cut out, then mounted onto a thin, deckled edged strip of vellum.

The whole thing was mounted onto the card base to complete the picture!
