Hi Everyone,
I am still frantically trying to get my Christmas cards out… I know, I am dreadfully late but the days have been taking me for a ride lately and I seem to be always running behind.
Anyway, here is another card to share. I am in love with this Santa in the North Pole Treasures by Penny Black. He really is a treasure! He has that old-timing feel and I love how he has spring in his step.
Time is precious at this time of year, so here is a brief summary…
First I drew a light pencil circle for the moon on watercolor paper. Using distress stains as my watercolors, I painted the moon with Antique Linen, Fossilized Amber and a little of Frayed Burlap for shadow. Then, using a few more distress stains, Chipped Sapphire, Stormy Sky, Faded Jeans, Weathered Wood and Black Soot were used for the sky and Crushed Olive, Peeled Paint and Forest Moss for the trees.
While the background was drying, I cut a lumpy snow bank from Neenah white cardstock and colored the edges with the same sky colors and stamped the sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black in, sprinkled Hero Arts clear embossing powder and heat set it.
Now on to the adorable Santa. The Santa was stamped onto Neenah white cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink (Copic marker friendly) and colored with Copic markers. Here is a list of the colors used:
After the Santa was colored, I fussy-cut out him out. At the same time, with a piece of watercolor paper, I die-cut out a bunny and tree using the Penny Black’s Nature’s Beauty die set. The tree and the edges of the bunny were then watercolored with the same colors used before.
It’s time to put everything together. Starting with a black cardstock card base and the piece of chalk, I rubbed chalk over the edges of the front of the card base, then mounted the background. The snow bank and tree were added with a bit of foam tape.
To complete the background, I splattered droplets of McCaffery’s white ink over the front for a snowy effect and set it aside to dry.
Finally, the Santa was added with foam tape and clear IrRESISTible Pico embellisher was applied to his buttons and shoes. I know you can’t see it but these little embellishments added a tiny bit of texture and dimension. For the final touch, tiny clear crystal gems were added to the sky for extra twinkle!
And there you have it – another card ready to send!
