Poppin’ Up To Say Happy Birthday by Rosali

Hi there,

It is always a sheer delight to feature a card design by Rosali of the I Love Stamping Blog. We feel so privileged to share one of her cuties! Today’s adorable design is an interactive one, meaning you can lower the toast into the toaster and pop it up – how fun is that! It is made using the new Lawn Fawn toaster stamp and die set, Let’s Toast.

Hello everyone! Happy New Year!

I am excited to be back on The Foiled Fox blog with a project that features the latest Lawn Fawn release. It’s their “Valentine 2019” release and Valentine’s Day is indeed only a couple of weeks away. But I decided to take a different approach to one of the new stamps and die sets and make a birthday card with it! I love to come up with ideas to use stamps and dies in a way they weren’t necessarily designed for and get most out of my supplies by doing so.

So let’s start, shall we?

I used Lawn Fawn’s “Let’s Toast” stamp set, coordinating dies and the great interactive “Pull Tab Add On” die set and combined it with a few older stamp images to create a cute birthday scene. Here are all the images I used together on the card:

For my background, I blended “Merman” ink from Lawn Fawn over the center of some Neenah Solar White Cardstock. To give my toaster and party peeps a place to stand on I added a wide strip of “Really Rainbow” patterned paper onto the bottom of the panel. I wanted a really colorful design for my birthday card and kept the rainbow theme also for my stamping and coloring later on. I also added a thin strip of turquoise cardstock as a border on my background and then die cut the whole piece with a stitched rectangle die.

TIP: If you don’t have a lot of colored cardstock, use a marker to give white cardstock the color that fits your project. For instance, I used a BG13 Copic marker to color in the pull tab die cut piece and the thin border across my background.

The Pull Tab Add On is what makes the card really special and honestly, guys, it’s so fun!! 😀 I always find that videos are the easiest way to learn how to use interactive dies so I suggest you take a look at Kelly Marie’s video here if you want to learn how to put it together and come back after. 🙂

Once I had my pull tab ready and put on the card I decided on what images to use in addition to the toaster and pop tarts. I took the cute birdie from “Critter Concert” and a couple of party hats as well as a tiny present from “Beam Me Up”.

To color my images I used the following Copic markers:

I used a black glaze pen on all the eyes to make them really black and a bit dimensional. You can also use Nuvo Drops in Ebony Black (and a fine applicator bottle) to do so. I will link to those below the blog post!

I stamped the first half of my sentiment onto the toaster before adhering it over the pull tap mechanism with foam tape. For the second half of the sentiment, I used the “Critter Concert” set again and also added a couple of music notes from it. Lastly, I adhered my panel onto a white card base, again using foam tape. It’s just easier to grab the pull tab at the top when there is a little bit of space between the cardstock pieces. Et voilà, my card was finished!

I hope I have given you some inspiration today! Have an amazing day!
