Hi Creative Friends,
I am back today sharing a serene Winter scene (my favorite!) card design. I used the beautiful Fanciful Snowflakes hot foil plate by Papertrey Ink for a silver foil shimmer sky and the artful Xmas Trees border from Penny Black.
The first thing I did was make an A2 white card stock card base and a same-sized Enchanted Evening blue panel and adhered it to the front. Next, I jumped in making the background.
Starting with a Bristol paper panel, I blended a few distress inks. I started with Broken China, then added spots of Uncharted Mariner, then used Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot to deepen the color on the edges. Once I was satisfied with the result, I splattered it with droplets of water and blotted them off.
With the panel dry and my Glimmer hot foil machine hot and ready to go, I placed the Fanciful Snowflake plate on the platform, added a sheet of silver foil, then the panel. I pressed the timer button.
When the timer button stopped blinking, I removed the whole assembly and ran it through my die-cutting machine. After a few passes through, i peeled off the foil sheet to reveal a beautiful snowflake sky!
Next, I did all my die-cutting. Using a piece of 110lb. piece of Neenah white cardstock, I cut out a couple of snowdrifts, the Xmas Tree Border, the word “PEACE” from the Joy, Peace, Love die set from My Favorite Things, and a small deer from the Natures Beauty die set by Penny Black. I also cut out an additional PEACE from white glitter paper.
For the deer, I blended on Rusty Hinge and a tiny bit of Black Soot to color using a small dauber, then I stacked and glued the two layers of the word PEACE.
With all the pieces ready to assemble, I added the layers of snow drifts, then the trees. To make the edges nice and neat (and a little smaller), I trimmed all sides, then added it to the card front.
To finish, the word PEACE was added with a little glue, along with the charming little deer.
This last photo (above) gives you a sneak peek of another card I made at the same time using hot foil again. Stay tuned for that one tomorrow! ♥
