Hello,
The Holidays are right around the corner – Whooo-eee. So it is time to get busy in our little workshops.
The new Christmas in the Round stamp by Penny Black is the centerpiece of the card and it is filled with all sorts of Christmas color, sparkle and joy. Just in time to get you started thinking about the upcoming Holiday season.
This is a single stamping of Christmas in the Round on watercolor paper. Because of the bumpy nature of the watercolor paper, I used the MISTI so I could stamp it a few times with VersaFine Onyx Black to get a good, even impression. I use the VersaFine ink so it will maintain it’s crisp lines and not bleed when the paper has water applied to it.
Now, that the simple stamping is done, it is on to water coloring…
Using a size 0 brush, I colored each little detail with my Peerless Watercolor palette. I used traditional colors but added a little bit of sparkle in the snowflakes, stars and outside border by coloring them with my luscious Finetec gold and silver paints. I just love these!! They are my favorite gold and silver paints. They really made the coloring special… and sparkly. After all the details in the stamp were painted, I let it dry before I added a light wash of green to the background of the scene.
Setting that aside to dry completely, I got out my set of circle dies. I started with the gold glitter paper first, cutting a circle out of the center that was slightly larger than the circle of the stamp. Next, using a 5 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of red cardstock, I cut a circle in the center of the paper that was slightly larger than the glitter circle.
For assembly, I started with an 8 1/2″ x 11″ piece of Easter Grass green card stock, I cut it to 5 1/2″ x 11″, scored it at 5 1/2″ and folded the card to create a 5 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ card base. Next, I adhered the watercolored scene to the front of the card base and set aside.
Taking the 5 1/4″ square red card stock with the circle cut-out and the glitter paper with it’s circle cut-out, I placed the glitter paper under the red, letting the circles be slightly offset so there is more glitter paper showing on the lower right than the upper left, and taped them together with my ATG tape dispenser. Next, I added foam tape to the back of the red and glitter paper top, centered it and taped it to the green card base with the scene.
I got to this point and decided it really needed a little embellishment. I cut a sprig of berries from the Penny Black Leaves Creative Die Set from water color paper and painted them with greens and rich reds. After it was dry, I tied a gold tinsel cord bow and glued it with Glossy Accents onto the upper left corner. The final touch was to add random little gold glitter dots with the gold Stickles Glitter Glue.
There it is, the Christmas in the Round is complete! Check out the complete supply list below.

This is a beautiful image. I like the addition of the holly berries and gold glitter accents.
