Hi there,
My sister is having a birthday… so it was time to create a card that will put a smile on her face and not remind her how the years are flying by. She loves to bake so this “Sweet Birthday Wishes” card is for her.
It is made by using the Sprinkled with Joy stamp set by lawn Fawn and the Memory Box “In the Kitchen” stamp set for the background. I think the ‘In The Kitchen’ stamp set is discontinued but the Baked With Love stamp set by Lawn Fawn will work great.. and honestly, I think it would be better! I wished I had thought of it earlier.
You may have remembered this Lawn Fawn stamp and die set from their Christmas release. It is so darn cute! With the add-on dies, it cuts out the oven and allows the oven door to open.
So, I set out by stamping the oven with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, my favorite Copic friendly ink, onto Neenah Solar White cardstock (110lb.) and colored away with my Copic colors. At the same time, I stamped the cookie tray and a few cookies. They are all colored with Copic Markers. I have listed the colors used in the Copic Marker key below.
To finish off the oven, I added a dimensional oven handle and acetate for the oven window. Then cut another oven, but this time it is only the outline of it and added lines so it looks like the inside of the oven. Then attached the cookie tray filled with cookies in the “inside” of the oven. I added a tiny gift tag die by Memory Box with “open me” written on it and attached it with think silver thread.
With the oven done, I moved on to the background. With a piece of watercolor paper, I brushed clear, clean water on the entire top, then dabbed yellow, a touch of orange and pink to create a mottled painted background. After it was dry, I stamped various kitchen tools from the In the Kitchen stamp set and stamped tiny hearts here and there. It is important to use a waterproof ink. My favorite is Verafine Onyx Black ink.
After the watercolor was dry, I cut out the panel using Avery Elle’s Postage Stamp die. At the same time, I cut another matching panel from Candy Hearts cardstock.
The card was almost done. I just added lines on the white card base, layered the pink and watercolored panel on top, added an embossed starburst circle that I had in my stash (it is the center of a die cut from the My Favorite Things Peek-A-Boo Circles), then finally the oven and hand lettered sentiment. Of course, instead of hand lettering the sentiment, you can stamp your favorite sentiment onto black paper and heat emboss it with white embossing powder. Tie some cotton baker’s twine and Viola!
