Sweet Tulips for Mom!

Sweet Tulips for Mom!

Hi Creative Friends

I am sharing a new card design featuring a lovely basket full of colorful tulips. These sweet watercolor flowers were from Penny Black’s Tulip Bunch stamp and die set.

To get started, I stamped the flowers and basket onto cold-pressed watercolor paper using a waterproof ink like Versafine Black Onyx, then dove into the painting. I used a few distress re-inkers, but you could use ink pads, too.

I used Picked Raspberry, Saltwater Taffy, Abandoned Coral, Seedless Preserves, and Wild Honey. I love using these reinkers. You can get a rich intensity of color. For the greenery, I used Crushed Olive and Mowed Lawn. The basket was painted with Rusty Hinge, Vintage Photo, and Ground Espresso.

After all was painted and dry, the pieces were cut out using the matching die and set aside for now.

Next, I cut a decorative frame using the new Curvature die by Penny Black from white card stock and mounted it on a white card stock panel. The panel was then mounted onto a matching white card base.

The basket of flowers and a couple of tulips with stems were mounted on top using foam squares. A sentiment was chosen from the Best Mom mini stamp set by Penny Black and was stamped using Versafine Black Onyx ink.

That completes my project for today. I love the pop of color the basket of flowers gives against the white background. I hope you liked it too!
