A Full Moon Halloween

Hi there,

I thought I would squeeze in another Halloween card before it is too late. This one works up very quickly and creates a scene of eerie bats with a full moon – what could be better for a Halloween night.

This card design has only a few ‘ingredients’. The supplies used include the Winter Branches and Spooky Fun from Penny Black for the main elements.

To begin, I cut a circle from masking paper to use for the moon and placed it onto a piece of Bristol paper which I used for the front panel. As you probably know, Bristol makes ink color blending a breeze!

With the mask in place, I started at the bottom and added color using distress oxide inks, first with Wild Honey, Ripe Persimmon and Fired Brick.  Then, as I worked my way up the panel, added Faded Jeans, Blueprint Sketch and a little Black Soot.

Once the panel was covered with an inky sky, I peeled off the mask and gently added Antique Linen to the moon and Squeezed Lemonade around parts of the outside of the moon to give a ‘glowy’ look to the moon and sky. To finish the panel, water splatters were lightly sprinkled on and quickly blotted dry.

With the panel complete, the rest was a snap. A branch from the Winter Branches stamp set was stamped onto the panel with Versafine Onyx Black ink and the bats from the Spooky Fun stamp set were added with the same ink.

The card was then assembled, using a black cardstock card base, adding a piece of orange patterned paper from the My Favorite Things Fun & Folic paper pack and stacking a black panel on top of that. Finally, the front panel was placed on top.

The last step was to make the “Happy Halloween” sentiment by stamping it onto a piece of black cardstock with Versamark ink and white heat embossing it with embossing powder and trimming it to size. It was then pressed into place with foam tape and VIOLA!
