HI Crafty Friends,
The winter is upon us and what better way to celebrate than with snowflakes. These big, beautiful snowflakes are from the Concord & 9th Snow Flurry stamp and die set. With a little embossing and spritzing, it creates a wonderful wintery effect!
This card starts out with two square panels the same size, one of Robin’s Egg 110 lb. cardstock, the other of Neehan white cardstock. Using the Robin’s Egg panel and the Concord & 9th Snow Flurry die set, I cut three snowflakes, 2 small and 1 large into the square panel. Each snowflake was positioned so a large portion of the snowflake was cut into the panel but not all of it. One thing to be very careful about is to make sure you save the little bits of blue cardstock around the large snowflake as these are critical to complete your design. I have marked with an arrow in the image below for easy reference. These parts are a chore to find again if you don’t capture them right away… just ask me – haha!
Then, to finish the Robin’s Egg panel, I blended Peacock Feathers distress ink around each of the snowflake cutouts to give a deeper color contrast. Next, I spritzed the whole panel with Shimmerz Snowstorm white spray for a wintery look.
When dry, I stamped a few snowflakes from the matching stamp set using Versamark ink and then heat embossed it with WOW! Iced Silver embossing powder. This gave it some sparkle power!
Now, on to the white square panel. I put this panel into the MISTI and laid the Robin’s Egg panel pieces over the top to get the positioning of the snowflakes. Once the positions of the snowflakes were right, I removed the Robin’s Egg panel pieces and stamped the snowflakes with Versamark ink and then heat embossing it with WOW! Opaque Pastel Blue embossing powder.
Believe it or not, this card is nearly finished. All we have to do is a little assembly. So, starting with a white square card base, one slightly larger than the panels, I adhered the white snowflake panel to the top, then added the Robin’s Egg panel pieces with some foam tape to pop it up a bit.
The only thing left was to stamp the sentiment onto a piece of Peppermint red cardstock with Versamark ink and heat emboss with white embossing powder, cut one side at an angle and adhere to the card with a little foam tape.
