Magical Dragon Friends

Hi Crafty Friends,

We are sharing a most delightful card design by one of our very favorites, Rosali from the I Love Stamping blog and Instagram fame: @ilovestamping. Rosali always charms us with her fun and whimsical designs. Take a look!

Rosali started with a watercolored background using the Winsor & Newton Watercolor markers and a bristol paper panel. These markers blend beautifully with water so you can create a lovely gradation of color.

Next, it was time to cut out the Dainty Scallop panel. Bristol paper or Neenah 110 lb. white cardstock works great for this. Then, on to stamping the dragon and little girl, plus the clouds. Rosali again used bristol paper and Versafine Onyx Black ink to stamp them onto bristol paper. And, she used the same Winsor & Newton watercolor markers to color and blend color onto these adorable little creatures. Rosali chose contrasting colors for the girl’s hair and dress to make her visually pop!

Then, using a white gel pen, Rosali added a few accents to the dragon and girl. With a black gel pen, she sharpened up the eyes and other features. Finally, she cut out the clouds and dragon using the matching die set, Magical Friends die-namics.

It was time to assemble. Starting with the watercolored background, it was mounted on top of a white card stock card base, then the scalloped panel. Next, the dragon and little girl and the clouds were mounted with a bit of foam tape.

For the sentiment, Rosali chose the sentiment from an older Birdie Brown stamp set, Magical Dragons. She stamped it on medium blue card stock, (Candy Necklace cardstock works great!) and cut it out using the Lawn Fawn Everyday Banners die set. Then mounted it with foam tape.

All done…a wonderfully fun birthday card ready to go. I agree with Rosali, you can never have too many birthday cards, can you?
