Hello everyone, Lisa here on the blog today to share some more inspiration with you using the recently released My Favorite Things More Brilliant Butterflies set. Did you catch my post last week using this set? Today I have another clean and simple card to share with you but using the set in a different way.
For this card, I used just one of the coordinating die-namics in the set. When you get a set with coordinating dies, it can be a great way of stretching your supplies by just using the die on its own. This works best when the shape is obvious to the viewer – butterflies are just one example and some floral dies work well too for this too. And using cardstock is a quick way of adding colour behind the die. So, here, I took some scrap pink, orange, yellow cardstocks and trimmed them into 1/8th inch and 1/4 inch strips using a trimmer. I took a piece of printer paper and added some Stick It Adhesive onto it and then adhered my strips down. Make sure you get the first one straight and butt each one up well against the previous strip. If you go “off” a bit, it will be obvious – I know this from experience!
Next, I took a piece of Neenah Solar White 80lb cardstock and one of the butterfly die-namics and ran it through my machine. I created a card base using neutral grey cardstock and then adhered the striped panel down where it would sit behind the butterfly window. I then added the white panel on top using double-sided tape. I toyed with adding the white panel on top using foam tape and kind of wish I had done it that way but hindsight is a wonderful thing!
The sentiment comes from Altenew’s Wonderland set (love!) and it was stamped using Versamark Ink onto black cardstock. I added white embossing powder and heat set. I took a MFT Skinny Strips Dienamic and trimmed it out before adding foam tape to the back and adhering it across the butterfly.
To embellish the card I added a few iridescent bubbles around the image, but any clear sparkly embellishment would work well here. So that finishes today’s card, pretty quick to pull together – the longest part will be deciding the colours you want to sit behind and making sure you get them straight!
