I am so glad you are joining me today. I am sharing a brand new Penny Black stamp from their Christmastime collection. It is called Winter Gem and it really is a gem!
This is the first Christmas card for me for the season. It’s never too early to make a Holiday card, is it? This one was especially nice for me since winter is my favorite time of year. I had double the fun!

One of the awesome things about this stamp is that it is graceful and simple, and it stands on its own beautifully. So, I started with a slimline panel of cold-pressed watercolor paper. Next, using my stamp positioner, I mounted the panel and the stamp.
I wanted the color to be in precise areas. One of the easiest ways to do that is with Tombow pens. I started by rubbing brown ink onto the branch area of the stamp using a medium brown Tombow pen, spritzed it with water, then stamped. I continued to add more brown the same way, along with a little black ink on the edge of one side of the branch until I liked the color and look of the branch.
From there, I added a few greens for the pine needles, making sure to lightly spritz the stamp each time I added ink so I could get a little blending of the ink.
The pine cone was the last to color. I carried on as before, adding different shades of brown, a little yellow, and then black ink for some of the shading.
With the branch and cone painted, I scribbled a patch of black and a patch of dark green onto my glass mat, loosened it with a little water, then splattered tiny dots of black and green ink (separately). To add a little snow, I took out my trusty Dr. Ph. Martin Bleedproof ink and splatters some of it on the panel, covering the area where I would stamp the sentiment.
Once all the splattering was done, I used a sentiment stamp from the ‘When Snow Falls’ stamp set (see supply list) and stamped it using Versafine Clair Morning Mist ink.
When the panel was completely dry, I mounted it onto a slightly larger Kraft card stock card panel that I had already mounted onto the front of a white card stock card base. And now I could call it done!
