Hi there,
We are so thrilled to introduce to you today a new segment that we will feature once a month on Art Journaling. We have been seeing some fabulous work by so many but we were especially impressed with Zinia Amoiridou (you can visit her at: @abstractinspiration). Zinia is a super talented and enthusiastic Art Journalist, among many other things in the art
world. She is currently enrolled in Art School in Greece and she is so talented she got in on her first try! (this is no
small feat) So, you can understand how pleased we are to say she will be hosting a special post every month – YAY!
Today she has brought us a special treat, a video on her project, The Bird and Branch. You can see first hand how she created her beautiful page of pastels, flowers and birds.

Hello to all of you creative friends,
My name is Zinia (aka @abstractinspiration) and I’m here to share with you some of my art journaling creations and inspire you to get down and start creating your own.
I started my page by covering the background with some Dylusions paints. I really love applying these paints with a baby wipe, makes the process really fast and helps them blend without the need of gesso. I mainly used Slate Grey with some pop of White Linen to create some highlights and variety.
To start building some more interest I stamped the Romantic Script background by My favorite Things with some Versa Fine Onyx Black ink and used some gesso over it to help it blend with the background and look a bit more subtle.
I used some rose stamps from the Lady Rose by Tim Holtz set and started working on my focal elements. I wanted to create a vintage background with a modern twist but at that point, I still wasn’t sure exactly where this is going.
I used a bunch of different Shimmerz products in beautiful shades of red and pink to do some abstract coloring on top of the rose stamps. I also decided to add some of the Spun Sugar Dazzlers through a stencil from my stash to add some more dimension to the page.
Once the paste was dry I kept adding more colors to make things look interesting and cohesive.
At this stage the page looked really beautiful with the vintage style but I still didn’t start working on my “modern twist”. To bring that on the table I decided to use the Bird and Branch color layering stamp by Hero Arts.
I used some relatively light inks to stamp the images and for the top layer I used black to add contrast and help it match with the black details I have on my background.
I placed my bird and flowers on the page and decided that my last step should be drawing a branch to connect all of them together. You can actually use the branch stamp that comes in the set, but I wanted to make it bigger and bolder so I ended up drawing it on my own.
I hope you enjoyed learning how this page came together. Make sure to stop by at the Foiled Fox store to grab some of the supplies and start creating your own art journal spreads.
Awesome colors, textures and dimension on this beautiful project!
This is truly a beautiful piece of artwork!
Oh how pretty! I love the layers and beautiful pinks!
I love this page. The layers of colors are beautiful and pink is my favorite color! That little birdie is so sweet and I love Shimmerz everything!
