Hi Crafty Friends,
Wishing you a happy “Bonjour” with this adorable In Paris stamp set by My Favorite Things. The Eiffel tower is such an iconic, gleaming symbol of the beautiful city of Paris that I couldn’t resist making it the focal point.
This card starts with an A2 sized (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″) white Bristol paper panel and adding a dot at the bottom of the panel, marking the center of the width (so the dot was at 2 1/8″). This dot will be my guide for the pink “rays” of the sky.
The rays were created by using a long piece of Post-it tape, lining up the edge of the tape with the dot at the bottom and stretching the tape slightly off center to the top of the panel. I then blended Worn Lipstick distress oxide ink on the edge of the tape and onto the paper, creating my first ray. I continued moving the top of the tape while at the dot, blending a stripe of distress ink each time I moved the tape. This creates the rays for the background.
With the background complete, it was set aside for now. Next, I made the green puffs of foliage by using the Puffy Clouds dies by MFT and cut two different ones and colored them with Lucky Clover, Peeled Paint and Twisted Citron distress oxides. When finished I splattered droplets of water with a clean paintbrush and dabbed dry.
The dog, Eiffel Tower, and trees were stamped onto white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic colors. Here is a guide:
The hearts from the stamp were stamped with red ink onto white cardstock and then colored in with Copic markers. I wanted them spread apart a little more than the stamp was so I fussy cut out the hearts… I’m a little crazy, huh?
Next, I cut a frame using the MFT Single Stitch Line Rounded Rectangle Frames and white cardstock. I also cut a black and white diagonal piece of patterned paper (MFT Black and White Basics) and rounded the corners with a corner chomper.
On to assembly… the black and white paper was mounted to a white card base. Then, the foliage was mounted to the pink ray background with the Dovecraft 1mm foam tape added to the back of the top foliage piece. The trees, dog, and Eiffel Tower were added with regular thickness foam tape (usually 2 mm), along with the white border. The corners were trimmed to match the frame corners. This whole section was then added to the diagonal patterned paper and the hearts were applied, then slathered with IrRRESISTible Pico Embellisher for extra shine. Finally, the “Bonjour” sentiment was white heat embossed on black cardstock and adhered to the card.
Viola! It is done… hope you enjoyed it… see you again real soon!
