Hello again,
We are so pleased and excited to present another masterpiece by Heather Telford of the Bits & Pieces blog. A few weeks ago we featured the elegant Sweet Perfume flower stamp by Penny Black and Heather’s stunning work. Today, in serene blues and graceful butterflies, Heather has created a breath-taking piece of card art. We are in awe of the beauty and artistry that she instills in her projects. It is simply amazing.
Heather has put together her own personal notes on how she created this card below. Take a moment too to read a little about Heather.
To make the embossed butterflies appear to lift off the page I added extra blue around the edges with a brush and some chipped sapphire stain. I let the background dry before stamping a few more of the small butterfly in chipped sapphire ink. I then pulled the ink from the edges to fill the butterflies with darker ink and splattered a few drops of blue ink over the panel.
With the background completed I removed the masks from my embossed butterflies, the masking fluid spots (you can just rub them off with your finger), then added some colour to the wings with distress markers and Finetec pearl colour paints. The Finetec paints pair nicely with other watercolour mediums so it is possible to add some shimmer to other paints and inks by over-laying or mixing the two. To frame the panel I ran the chipped sapphire distress stain around the edge, added a sentiment then mounted it on a cream card base.

Once again a lovely card, I’m very intrigued by this technique and am wanting to try it out. Thanks for the inspiration.
Gorgeous card, Thanks for the “how to” Heather!
Heather, this is absolutely GORGEOUS! I love it! Because of you, I now own this stamp set but haven’t had time to explore with it… It is a “carrot” dangling before me and now, I am even more inspired to play! 🙂
Always a big fan of Heather’s works. This card is stunning gorgeous. The butterflies look like they have transparent wings.
I’m blown away by this card. I’m going to have to CASe it.
