Holiday Picture Cards

Holiday Picture Cards

Hi Creative Friends,

I am sharing a holiday video (see below) today featuring a lovely Penny Black stamp set called Frozen Vista and a new die from Penny Black. It is the wonderful window die named Viewpoint.

In the video, I have shown all the steps to make your own ‘vista’!

As I mentioned in the video, these two cards are right up my alley. They each feature a window with a beautiful scene to look out to. Check out the video below.

I hope the video explained every step to you. The project may seem like it takes a while but in fact, it comes together pretty quickly. Here are a few close-ups of each project, starting with Santa and his sleigh.

I chose the Frozen Vista stamp set because the two scenes are the perfect proportion to the window frame. Of course, you can create your own scene by combining different stamps… and we know Penny Black has oodles of stamps that combine well together. But, these already created scenes took all the guesswork out. The only tiny tricky part was eliminating the arched panes in the stamp but hopefully, the video helped take the fear out of doing that.

I also featured another card using the other scene in the stamp set. This one is filled with a beautiful forest scene with majestic deer. All the steps are the same to create this one except for the sky I used a Brusho dry crystal paint, Ultramarine to create the beautiful explosion of blue. Brusho paints are so intense you only need to use a little. If you want to learn more about using them, check out this earlier video.

I used distress markers and a little distress ink to color the deer and trees. I first rubbed Espresso distress marker (using the brush tip) on the deer and stamped it. With a small damp brush, I gently urged the ink from the outline into the center of the deer, then added a little Vintage Photo and Wild Honey distress inks. It takes only a few tiny bits of ink to color them.

For the trees, I used Forest Moss and Peeled Paint. You can see all the supplies below.

The ‘holiday picture’ was all mounted on a  4.5″ x 6.75″ Pale Rose cardstock panel with a winter sentiment from the Penny Black Christmas Sentiments stamp set. I stamped it using Papertrey Ink Weathervane ink.

Here again, is a last look at the two cards.

I hope you enjoyed the video. Please let me know which one strikes your fancy!

Thanks for watching!
