Hi Friends,
Today I have a Christmas card for you. I have sooo many on my list I thought I better give it a start. This card is using some of the new Penny Black stamps that are always so wonderful!
I am a sucker for holly! I can never resist making something with holly during the holiday season. It is a universal symbol of winter and holiday time for me so when the Penny Black Holly Sprig cling stamp came in, I had to have it!
To start, I placed a piece of white cardstock in a stamp positioner (MISTI or Tim Holtz Stamp Platform, or any other option you may use). I then stamped the Holly in several places, starting with first stamping the sprig a few times until I achieved the coloring I was looking for and then moving the stamp to the next spot and repeating the same stamping steps. The stamp positioner is brilliant for this task because you can restamp an image in exactly the same spot until you are satisfied.
I inked the stamp using the small square distress ink cubes, Peeled Paint and Crushed Olive for the leaves, a brown Tomboy pen to get it the small areas of the stem and Candied Apply and Aged Mahogany for the berries. Right before I stamped each time, I would lightly spritz the stamp with water to lightly moisten the ink.
After the whole panel was complete, I dry embossed the edges of the stamped panel and a gold foil card stock panel with the largest die in the Lawn Fawn Outside In Rectangle Stackables set. This produced a wonderful edging detail.
Then, I stamped some red Peppermint Stick card stock with the JOY JOY JOY from the Penny Black Joyful Wishes sentiment stamp set using Versamark ink and then heat embossed it with Ranger Gold embossing powder. The sentiment and a matching gold foil label were cut out using the Penny Black Triple Banner creative die set.
The card was assembled using a Peppermint cardstock card base and the gold foil and holly panel were mounted askew. The sentiment was mounted the same but with foam tape on the back to pop it up and the Studio Katia clear droplets where added.
