Joyful Spring Bouquet for Mom

Joyful Spring Bouquet for Mom

Hi Crafty Friends,

We are starting out the week by sharing a bright and cheery Spring bouquet that is perfect for Mom or anyone that loves flowers. This Joyful Bouquet stamp set by Pinkfresh Studio is crammed full of charming flower vignettes and a large bouquet.

Since this is a slimline card, I started with a slender Neenah white card stock panel, the Basket Weave stencil, and Speckled Egg distress ink. With a blending brush and stencil, I lightly rubbed on the ink. The stencil is only 6 inches in length but luckily it was super easy to move the stencil down, match up the design, and continue until the whole panel was stenciled.

This stamp is a one-piece stamp with tons of floral vignettes. I wanted to use a few of these floral groupings but not in the pattern they were laid out. So, since I really don’t like to cut stamps apart if I can help it, I just placed my card stock panel into a stamp positioner and gently inked up one motif at a time with the Speckled Egg ink and stamped. I continued to stamp little flower groupings until satisfied with the panel.

By the way, to avoid getting ink on unwanted areas, before inking the motif, I blocked off the surrounding area of the vignette with post-it notes, inked it, then removed the post-it notes before stamping. This technique assured me that I wasn’t making an inky mess!

I set aside the finished panel and went on to die-cutting a decorative oval using the Pinkfresh Studio Braided Oval die and white card stock.

Next, I stamped the main bouquet onto a piece of hot-pressed watercolor paper, using Versafine’s Smokey Gray ink, then watercolored the flowers and leaves with an assortment of colors. Once done and dried, I cut out the bouquet using the matching die.

With all the pieces done, it was time to assemble. Using a white card base, I mounted a slightly smaller Hydrangea blue card stock panel on top, then the braided oval that I had popped up with some white foam was layered on. The bouquet was next. I popped this up with foam tape.

There were only a few tasks to do to complete the card. First, I stamped the Happy Mother’s Day sentiment using Enchanted Evening ink and the Penny Black Best Mom stamp. Then, I added a few sequins and a yellow bow made from stretchy Silly String. Finally, I tried a little experiment by added a few dimensional accents to the watercolored flowers by using a few Nuvo Crystal Drops.  I liked the whimsical flair it added!
