Wishing Ewe A Happy Birthday by Rosali

Hello everyone! I am very happy to be returning to The Foiled Fox’ blog with my first post for 2018 and I brought you cute sheep from My Favorite Things!

The stamp set is called “Ewe and Me Forever” and it’s from their latest release. What I love to do with new release supplies is to combine them with older, previously released items! And I had my eye on the awesome “Snow Drifts Cover-Up” die-namics for quite some time because I think it’s really versatile. It might be called “Snow Drifts” but I have seen it used for water waves, hills or just as a graphical background (I am immediately thinking rainbow colors! Who else is in love with them? ☺). In combination with the sheep images, the background die is perfect for some green hills so that is what I went with for my card.

I used three different shades of Distress Inks (you can find all the exact colors down below the blog post) for the bottom three ‘hills’ of the die-cut background. By doing this I created some visual depth for my little scene.

Hint: I use Neenah Solar White for my ink blending and always tap off my blending tool on my craft mat before letting the ink touch my paper. Then I start from the side of the paper in a circular motion and with very light pressure. That way I avoid getting harsh lines. If you struggle to get even blending you can also use a smooth watercolor paper – it makes it much easier!

For the sky, I used Tumbled Glass Distress Ink to ink blend over a cloud stencil directly on my card base. I did not want to keep the upper horizontal lines from the die over my sky so I cut them away right aside the frame with my craft scissors. I foam mounted my hills and frame onto the Neenah 110 lb card base for some dimension.

I picked two sheep from the stamp set, a smaller one for the back and a larger one for the front – that way the smaller one appears as if it was further away. I colored them with Copics. Here’s the Copic colors that I used:

Sheep’s body: W0, W1, W4

Sheep’s face & feet: E74, E77, E49, and 0, W3 for the highlight on the nose

Inside of sheep’s ears: E27

Bows & hearts: G17, G28 / R37, R39

Lastly, I carefully added Black Ebony Nuvo Drops to the sheep’s eyes to make them stand out.
