Rosali of I Love Stamping blog (Instagram: @ilovestamping) is visiting our blog today and she is sharing a splash of summer before it all fades away. She has cleverly used alcohol inks as her watery background, along with thinking outside the box by using the Snow Drifts Cover-Up. Let’s jump in and see how she does it.
This all starts with a “Robin’s Egg” card stock card base.
With the card base set aside, for now, Rosali grabbed a piece of Yupo paper and a few alcohol inks, Turquoise, and Patina for the watery colors and a bit of Snow Cap mixative to add some white, pearly areas. To get a good mix of the colors, she first added drops of blending solution onto to paper, then added the colors. She then moved the inks around to get a ‘watery’ effect but still leaving some white areas.
Hint: A few ways you can get the colors to mix and mingle is 1. use a blower (see supply list) or straw or 2. move the paper around until it is to your liking.
While the inks were drying on the Yupo paper panel, the adorable water critters were stamped onto Neenah white card stock using Copic friendly ink (see the supply list for a good suggestion). Then, colored with Copic markers. Once done, the critters were cut out using the matching dies and a few accents to show reflections were added using a white gel pen.
Once the ink was dry, the Yupo panel was cut using the My Favorite Things Snow Drifts cover-up die and the center or ‘negative’ parts were saved and the outlined panel was set aside for another project.
With most everything completed, foam tape was added to the back of the Snow Drifts pieces and mounted onto the card base. The critters were added next.
To finish up the card, one of the cute sentiments from the stamp set was stamped onto a strip of yellow patterned paper and pressed in place. ♥
