Fluttering Butterfly Card

Fluttering Butterfly Card

Hi Everyone,

I am Ruri and I am bringing you today “Fluttering Butterflies”.  Though it has a happy birthday greeting on it, it truly can work for all occasion – just change the sentiment.  I just love those kinds of cards, don’t you! You never know when you need one in a pinch!

I love to color so coloring these butterflies by Avery Elle with my much loved Copic markers was such fun.  Try your hand at it.   You will see how fun and beautiful they turn out!

This card is simply to make – YAY!  It is the Copic coloring that makes it extra special and super fun to do.  It is so relaxing to just sit and color beautiful butterflies!   All the colors I used will be listed at the end.

This card’s finished size is 4.5″ x 6.5″ so it fits in a 5″ x 7″ envelope very nicely.

To create this card, I used a 7.5″ x 6.5″ piece of yellow card stock for the card base and scored it in half on the long side, ended up with a 3.75″ x 6.5″ folded card.  Then, with a 4.75″ x 6″ piece of Neenah white card stock, I stamped the 2 upper butterflies directly on the panel using Memento Tuxedo Black dye ink and then cut the panel down to 3.5″ x 6″ except for when I came to  the butterflies.  When I got there,  I cut around the butterflies so they will stick up above the card base, then continued on with the straight cut.

With the 2 upper butterflies stamped directly on the front panel of Neenah Solar White card stock, I stamped the other 3 on a separate piece of Neenah Solar White card stock, colored, cut out and added foam squares to the back to give the card some added interest and dimension.  I did add a few highlights to the butterflies with Wink of Stella Brush Markers.  I used them only to give highlights to indicate where the light might hit them in real life.

:To finish the card, I cut out the ‘Happy Birthday to You” from the Lawn Fawn lawn cut (die) using a scrap of Neenah white card stock I used for the base.  I colored the sentiments with Wild Honey Distress Ink and accenting with Spun Sugar Distress Ink.  Gold Stickles Glitter Glue add the sparkle.

Finally, mount the 3 butterflies and the Happy Birthday sentiment on the white front panel…. add a few sequin and it’s done.

This card fits in a 5″ x 7″ envelope.  If you have one on hand, then you are set to go.  I made mine using the Envelope Punch Board and Lawn Fawn’s Let’s Polka in the Meadow.  To give it an extra bit of interest, I die cut a butterfly from the Avery Elle’s Butterflies stamp set.

Viola! It’s done
