Lots of Joy

Lots of Joy

Hi Creative Friends,

Today I am sharing another Christmas card using a lovely new holiday stamp set by Penny Black called Sparkle and Shine. It features beautiful ornaments, sentiments, and a few sprigs of holiday cheer

This is a clean and simple card that lends itself well to mailing, as well as mass-producing. It all starts with a bristol paper panel, a stamp positioner, and three ornament stamps from the Sparkle and Shine stamp set.

First, I prepped my bristol paper panel by generously pouncing anti-static powder over the whole panel, then arranging the stamps in the stamp positioner over the panel. The stamps were then inked with Versamark ink, stamped on the panel, and heat embossed with white embossing powder.

I stamped the ornaments again on masking paper, cut them out, and placed them over the stamped ornaments on the panel. This will protect them while I blend Tumbled Glass distress ink over the panel. Once the whole panel was covered with the Tumbled Glass ink, I let it dry thoroughly before beginning the next step.

Once again I generously coated the panel with anti-static powder, then placed a star stencil over the panel, making sure the masking paper was still covering the stamped ornaments. Then, using Versamark ink, I applied the ink on the stencil, getting the ink in the star cut-outs. Next, I removed the stencil, sprinkled on clear embossing powder, tapped it off, and heat-set it. Now the Tumbled glass color is trapped beneath the stars.

For the next step, I blended an ombre of color using distress inks. I started at the bottom using Chipped Sapphire and a little Black Soot to deepen the color. Midway, I changed to Faded Jeans and ended at the top with more Tumbled Glass.

With the background complete, I removed the masking paper to reveal the crisp white ornaments. These were colored by brushing on a little Faded Jeans and Chipped Sapphire.

After the ink and coloring were completely dry, I stamped the sentiment from Penny Black’s Thrill of Hope stamp set and splattered white dots of ink over the top.

To finish, I trimmed the ornament panel a little on each side and mounted it on a slightly larger panel of dark blue Whirlypop cardstock. Then the whole thing was mounted on a white card stock card base.

For the finishing touches, I applied little accents of glitter glue using Star Dust Stickles to the ornaments and tiny dots on the background.
