Snowman Friends

We have been so very lucky to have Laurel Beard of Papercrafts by Laurel as our guest in the past… and again today! Yippee! Laurel is AMAZING! She creates fun and inventive projects and does it with such fun and flair! You can see her light-hearted spirit shine through this her cards.

Hi there! Today I am pleased as punch to be guesting with The Foiled Fox again! WOOT WOOT!  I adore these folks! I’ve created a trio of cards that have a beautiful Birch background stamp and some fun snowmen from the Making Frosty Friends stamp set and coordinating die.

To create the first two cards, I inked up the Birch Background stamp with just two colors of distress inks:  stormy sky and blueprint sketch. Then I spritzed it lightly with water and pressed my watercolored cardstock onto the stamp. (WITHOUT re-inking the stamp, I stamped it again onto another pieced of watercolored cardstock and the background to my second card was born – more on that in a bit).

I then stamped various elements from the Making Frosty Friends stamp set and built up the scene. I used the Snow Marker to create the “snow” effect on the scarf, hat and ground.

My next card used the same inked stamp from the above card so you can see the lighter, softer background I achieved by not re-inking my stamp. This technique is sometimes to referred to as second generation stamping or stamping off. I’m just lazy so I like I can get two backgrounds from one sitting, lol!

I thought having the little  kid snowman standing on his Dad’s head would be funny, lol! It’s the little things people… HE HE!

And lastly for my third card , I created the background panel with three color distress inks:  Black Soot,  Blueprint Sketch and Chipped Sapphire.  and I inked up the Birch Background stamp with Versamark ink, dumped on some embossing powder and heat set it.

I added a few of the images from the same snowman stamp set and voila, this card is finished! I left this card sentiment free so I can use it for any occasion.

A trio of winter cards… Yes please. I’m still waiting for the hard winter I have been warned repeatedly about (I’m in Connecticut now)… It snows and then a few days later it melts. I think the most snow we have gotten so far is 5 inches.
